Out of Home Respite

Ages 5 - 20

Our Out-of-Home Respite Services offer a unique opportunity for care recipients to step outside their familiar home environment. This option is particularly appealing for various individuals:

  • Adolescents Transitioning to Independence: Ideal for adolescents preparing for more independent living arrangements, providing exposure to new surroundings and expectations.

  • Young Adults with Disabilities: Tailored for young adults with disabilities who prefer to socialize with peers of their own age.

  • Aging Populations with Memory Loss: Even aging individuals with mild to moderate memory loss can benefit from this experience, as it offers cognitive and emotional stimulation.

Key Benefits:

  • New Experiences: Exposure to new surroundings, peer relationships, and different expectations.

  • Freedom for Families: Caregivers have the freedom to enjoy time in their own home without the constant demands of caregiving, allowing them to focus on other family members.

Special Considerations:

  • Transportation: Depending on the situation, transportation may be required, and special equipment may need to be moved.

  • Adjustment Challenges: Some care recipients may find it challenging to adapt to an unfamiliar environment.

  • Diverse Settings: Services may be provided in various settings, some more restrictive than the care recipient's home, such as specialized medical centers or nursing homes.

Short Term Respite

Ages 5 - 20

Our Short Term Respite service is designed to support both caregivers and children. Here's what you can expect:

  • In-Home or Community Setting: Respite providers care for the child or youth either in their own home or within the community to give caregivers/guardians a well-deserved break.

  • Up to 300 Hours Annually: Children or youth in CSoL (Children's Services of Louisiana) can receive up to 300 hours of respite each year, helping reduce stress in challenging situations.

  • Planned or Emergency Respite: Respite can be planned in advance or provided on an emergency basis to accommodate your unique needs.

Our goal is to provide caregivers with essential support while ensuring the well-being and comfort of your child or youth. We're here to make caregiving a more manageable and rewarding experience for all involved.
